Tyranid Raveners

As promised, here are some first detailed unit pic of my Hive Fleet Juggernaut: The Ravener unit. They are the latest models I painted for my Tyranid army (which is a while ago;-)). And funnily I can not remember that I ever used them in any game... ;-)

I tried to do a not-too-dark color scheme. At the same time it should have been a little realistic and bug-like. Of course heavily inspired by Starship Troopers (have to see this "classic" again...;-)). The most important color is the old Green Ink from GW, a really it gives the carapace its really intense look...
For the raveners, I tried to catch their speed and aggresivity...

Cheers

Daemonette 309

And here she is. Painting during one weekend. First mini with Jar's techniques, and easily the best, I have done so far. Credit for the eyes goes to Jar himself. Many thanks again!

P.S.: You can vote for it on CMON: http://www.coolminiornot.com/285397

Daemonette 309 - Jar's painting class for beginners...

Hiho,

last weekend I had an awesome time at "Jar's painting class for beginners" in Hannover. It was my first time ever at such a workshop in my dozen years of painting experience, and I learned a lot a lot! And while it was very intense it was always kind of relaxed and a lot of fun too! Really recommendable!

However, it is not a secret that since some time, the first miniature too paint at this worksop is a deamonette. The cool thing: One gets (apart from colors and paint brush) basically everything you need to build the mini including a complete designed cabinet base. But of course you  do everything yourself, so here are the wip pics of the weekend:

These are the parts for the daemonette...
 And here she assembled
And the finished assembled base, a sci-fi trash pile. What else should I have done? I love rust!

Mini on its base ready to be base coated...

base-coated first with black and then with white from the upper angles
Time to start painting... This time a new style, just explained from Jar:

And this is how my wet palette looked like after this layer
Time to think, about the color scheme for the mini itself... Luckily, Roman aka Jar brought quite some inspiration... :-) The "women" on the left gave me my inspiration, just saw it and new I had to try something like that. I am talking just the colors of course!!! ;-)
 Here we go...
And now the details...
How she looks finished, I will show you next time! ;-)

Army Showcase: Hive Fleet Juggernaut

Just to show you that I actually also paint (at least some of) the models I buy:
Here is Hive Fleet Juggernaut, my first 40k army. The reason that made me change from Warhammer Fantasy (and my beloved old Orcs & Goblins). Of course this army is heavily inspired by Starship Troopers and of course the just awesome Hive Fleet Moloch (from Marco Schulze - can't find his website at the moment, sorry...). It was the latter where I first saw the idea of building these "mini dioramas" on game size bases...

Anyway here comes the warp shadow of Juggernaut:

Sorry for the quite bad pics! I was trying to do my best, but somehow they did not turn out very well... :-( Please let me know if you found a way to make acceptable pictures of whole armies!!!

Anyway, I will make & upload pictures of  individual models or units in the near future...

Hope you like Hive Fleet Juggernaut!

P.S.: As it turned out at least with the 4th edition codex, Tyranids were pretty boring to play! And I hated to move all these models onto and then over the table, just to remove 90% of them before they reached the enemy -- in most cases the hateful Dark Angels of my longtime enemy! This is also why there are some Dark Angel victims as decoration on the bases. although the dark green did give a very poor contrast with the green carprice of the Tyranids! Anyway, it was worth it! ;-)

Just some nice minis...

I could not resist to buy. They are just too beautiful, although they will not match any of my (actual) projects...

 Orc Warlord from CMON
 Lich King from CMON
 Doppelgänger from Wyrd
Nurses from Wyrd -- May become handy if I will ever play Blood Bowl again...
The Orc Shaman from Avatars of War.
The nice surprise package from Badsmile Miniatures...
And now the just awesome characters from Enigma...

One of the most beautiful minis I have ever seen. I am super surprised that I see it so rarely painted on CMON...

And if you think that must be it -- he cannot possibly have even more unpainted stuff! -- then see this:

 AND....

Muhahaha...
